Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1: Departure for Israel

Depart from your home city and connect with the overnight flight to Tel Aviv. (Meals in-flight)

Day 2: Arrive Tel Aviv – Tiberias

Upon arrival at Ben Gurion Airport, your guide and driver will greet you. Transfer to your hotel in Tel Aviv for check-in, dinner, and overnight.

Day 3: Caesarea – Nazareth

Check out of the hotel and drive north along the Mediterranean coast to Caesarea, once the Roman capital of Palestine. Visit the Crusader fortifications, Roman amphitheater, aqueduct, and the harbor where the Apostle Paul was taken to Rome. Continue to Nazareth and explore Nazareth Village, a living history museum recreating life in the first century. Enjoy a Biblical Lunch at Nazareth Village. Visit the Church of the Annunciation, the Greek Catholic Church synagogue, and Mary’s Well, time permitting. Transfer to your hotel in Tiberias for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Around the Sea of Galilee

Visit sites around the Sea of Galilee, including Capernaum with its Ancient Synagogue and St. Peter’s House. Explore the Church of the Loaves and Fishes at Tabgha and Mensa Christi. Enjoy lunch at the St. Peter Fish Restaurant on the Lake. Continue to the Mount of the Beatitudes and conclude the day with a boat ride across the Sea of Galilee. Visit the Jesus Boat Museum to see the First Century boat. Return to your hotel in Tiberias for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Tiberias – Jericho – Jerusalem – Bethlehem

Drive south along the Jordan Valley to Qasr Al Yahud for a Baptismal Remembrance Service at the River Jordan. Continue to Jericho and take a cable car up the Mt. of Temptations for a panoramic view of Jericho. Visit Hisham’s Palace and see the newly uncovered mosaics. Enjoy lunch in Jericho and visit Zacchaeus’ tree and the glass factory. Proceed to Jerusalem, arriving first at the top of Mount of Olives for an amazing panoramic view of the city. Walk along the Palm Sunday Road, visit Dominus Flevit Church, and conclude at the Church of All Nations and Garden of Gethsemane. Drive to Bethlehem for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Bethlehem

Stop for souvenir shopping in one of the Christian cooperatives of Bethlehem. Visit Dar al-Kalima University and meet Rev. Dr. Mitri Raheb. Tour the campus and participate in a cooking class. Lunch is included. In the afternoon, visit Manger Square and the Church of Nativity. In the evening, meet a local mufti to learn about Islamic faith practices. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Dead Sea – Masada – Qumran

Visit the Church of Bethany in Al Azariya. Travel to the Dead Sea and take a cable car up to Masada. Explore Herod’s royal citadel and the Zealots’ last stand against the Romans. Continue to Qumran, the site of the Dead Sea Scrolls discovery, for a visit and lunch. Enjoy an optional float in the Dead Sea. Return to Bethlehem for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Bethlehem – Jerusalem

Attend worship at Evangelical Christmas Lutheran Church. Visit Shepherds Field in Beit Sahour. After lunch, visit Efrat Israeli settlement and Dheisheh Palestinian refugee camp. Time permitting, visit the Banksy Walled Off Hotel and Museum. Continue to Jerusalem and check into your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Jerusalem

Begin with a pre-breakfast walk along the Via Dolorosa to experience the Stations of the Cross and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Return to the hotel for breakfast. Visit the Western Wall and the Western Wall Tunnel. Continue to the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu. Tour the Israel Museum, Shrine of the Book, and a scale model of Jerusalem. This evening, hear from a representative of Rabbis For Human Rights or B’Tselem Organization.

Day 10: Jerusalem

Visit the Temple Mount for a view of the Dome of the Rock and Al Aqsa Mosque. Visit the Church of St. Anne and the Pool of Bethesda. Make your way to the Church of Redeemer and meet with the English-language pastor to learn about the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land (ELCJHL). The afternoon will be free for individual exploration. Gather for a farewell dinner at a restaurant in the Old City.

Day 11: Jerusalem – Jerash – Petra

Cross over the Allenby Bridge to Jordan and meet your Jordanian guide, driver, and coach. Drive north and visit the Roman city of Jerash, seeing Maximus Cardo, the colonnaded street flanked by temples, churches, theaters, and endless mosaics. Travel south through the vast desert to the village of Wadi Musa, the entrance to Petra.

Day 12: Petra

Explore the ancient city of Petra, beginning with a walk through the dramatic Siq, opening upon the Treasury, El Khazneh. Continue through Petra to discover hundreds of carved and built structures. Enjoy a full day of touring this once-hidden city.

Day 13: Petra – Amman

Travel north to Madaba to see the 6th-century mosaic map of the region. Visit Mount Nebo, where Moses viewed the Promised Land. Enjoy the dramatic view of the Jordan Valley, Jericho, and the Judean hills. Return to Amman and check into your hotel. Time permitting, tour Amman, including the citadel, Roman Theater, archaeological museum, and King Abdullah Mosque.

Day 14: Return Home

Transfer this morning to the airport for check-in and flight departure. Arrive home enriched with your discoveries of faith and friendship in the Holy Land.
